VEGAS - (June 29, 2017) - Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, June 29, that the team has hired Ryan McGill as an assistant coach. McGill joins Mike Kelly and Ryan Craig on Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant's coaching staff.
"We are very excited we were able to land Ryan as an assistant coach," said Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant. "We've got a nice blend of personalities on the bench and in the room now. Ryan has an impressive resume and a great reputation amongst the players and coaches who have worked with him."
McGill, 48, joins the Golden Knights after most recently serving as the head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Owen Sound Attack for the last two seasons. He led the Attack to an overall record of 49-15-4 for a franchise best 102 points last season, which was good for the second-most points in the league. Over his two years with the club, McGill compiled a record of 81-42-10-5 and helped guide the team to its first Conference Final berth since the Attack won the J. Ross Robertson Cup in 2010-11 and was named both the Ontario Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League's Coach of the Year in 2016-17.
