Luca Sbisa Misses Practice; Not Coming On Road Trip

Friday was a nice game for Luca Sbisa.
The defenseman, acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in the Expansion Draft, used a blistering slap shot to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead. It was his first goal of the season.
Then, playing with his usual defense partner Nate Schmidt, Sbisa continued to draw the game's toughest defensive matchups, playing on what's probably been Vegas' most reliable blue line duo all season.
Monday wasn't as good of a day for Sbisa, who didn't skate at City National Arena ahead of this week's road trip to Edmonton and Vancouver. Sbisa won't be making the trip with the team, either, and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

"He's day-to-day," coach Gerard Gallant said. "He was sore the other day. He's not coming on the trip, but he's day-to-day. Day-to-day."
This setback is especially disappointing for Sbisa, who'll miss an opportunity to play in Vancouver, where he played for the Canucks the past three seasons.
Sbisa has one goal and seven assists in 16 games this season.
With no other defensemen being recalled, this would suggest that Shea Theodore, Brad Hunt and Jon Merrill could see more time.
As of late, Sbisa, along with Schmidt, Deryk Engelland, Colin Miller and Brayden McNabb have played pretty much every game for the Golden Knights. Hunt and Theodore have rotated -one in the lineup, one out of the lineup - since Theodore's recall from the AHL earlier this month.
Merrill has been scratched the past five games, and has only gotten into three contests all season.
Subban On The Trip
Although Sbisa is not accompanying the Golden Knights to Edmonton and Vancouver, goalie Malcolm Subban is.
Subban remains on IR, and Vegas still plans on dressing Maxime Lagace and Dylan Ferguson as its two goalies.
Although with Subban having been out of action with a lower-body injury since October 21, his presence on the road could signal that he's inching closer to a return.
"I know Subban's coming, but he hasn't skated with our team yet," Gallant said. "He's trying to get back into shape and get ready to go again when he's healthy. He hasn't been cleared yet. But he's coming on the trip, though."
Neither Marc-Andre Fleury or Oscar Dansk will be traveling with the team.
