Speak now or forever hold your peace?
In the case of other NHL general managers, George McPhee basically said "act now or forever hold your peace" during a brief respite from the Golden Knights' war room on Monday morning.
Speaking to a gathering of media members, McPhee confirmed that he has had numerous discussions about trades with other teams.
McPhee, however, also said that he has set an unofficial deadline of when he will stop fielding trade offers from other teams ahead of Wednesday's Expansion Draft.
That deadline is tomorrow.

"What we've told everyone today is that today will be the last day that we are going to have those discussions, that we are going to pick our team tomorrow," McPhee said. "We want to have a discussion with the league tomorrow night about what our team is going to look like to make sure we meet all of the requirements, and then if everything's okay, I'll sleep on it and then just send it in Wednesday morning.

"Midnight eastern standard time would be ideal. But, we'll see. But, we will be done with discussions tonight.
"But, today is the last day for those discussions."
Given the relative lack of player movement before Saturday's roster freeze -prohibits teams from making any transactions, except with the Golden Knights, before Thursday - the general consensus has been that McPhee has had a handful of deals in the works as well.
However, McPhee said that he has yet to consummate any deals, officially.
Which with his deadline now only about 30 hours away, could make for an awfully eventful next day at the Golden Knights headquarters. Especially if McPhee's been working on as many potential deals as last week's lack of player movement would imply.
"We have things lined up," McPhee said. "But nothing is final until everything is final."
