OPPOSITION UPDATE
Tuesday's game marks the second of a five-game road trip for the Sabres. When Vegas played in Buffalo last week, it was the second game of the Golden Knights' five-game swing.
The Sabres hold a 3-2-0 record through five games. Since they topped the Golden Knights on Oct. 8, they've gone 1-1-0 with a 6-1 loss to Colorado and a 3-0 win in Arizona.
Jack Eichel is off to a hot start with five points (3G, 2A) through five games this year. First-overall pick Rasmus Dahlin scored his first NHL goal Saturday in Buffalo's shutout win against the Sabres.
STORYLINES
Vegas is looking to overcome last week's loss to the Sabres in Buffalo. The Golden Knights outshot the Sabres 37-17 but couldn't make much work offensively in the 4-2 loss.
After splitting the season series last year, Vegas needs a win Tuesday to earn another split this year.
STREAKS
The Golden Knights snapped their three-game losing skid Saturday in Philadelphia.
William Karlsson's three-game point streak came to an end Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
With the threat of a four-game losing streak at hand, Marc-Andre Fleury stood on his head in a 1-0 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. The game ended a five-game road trip in which the Golden Knights went 2-3-0. Cody Eakin's goal with 1:25 to play put Vegas on the board and Fleury turned aside chance after chance in the final minute to earn his 49th career shutout.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Keep Intensity High: In their last meeting with Buffalo, it took the Golden Knights 27:48 to score and, when Haula's goal put them on the board, the Sabres answered 28 seconds later. To win Tuesday, Vegas can't let Buffalo do that again.
Track Jack: Eichel scored the first two goals of the game last Monday as and it allowed the Sabres to dictate the tempo of the game. Vegas will need to keep the Buffalo captain off the board.
