2021-22 REWIND
In a year hampered by injuries, the Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season after posting a 43-31-8 record and 94 points. Vegas was led by Jonathan Marchessault who put up 66 points (30G, 36A) in 76 games with Chandler Stephenson second with 64 points (21G, 43A) in 79 games. Shea Theodore led all VGK defensemen in scoring with 52 points (14G, 38A) in 78 games. OPPOSITION UPDATE
Los Angeles finished third in the Pacific Division last season with 99 points and an overall record of 44-27-11. The Kings did not make it past the first round of the playoffs as they were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in seven games. Their leading scorer was captain Anze Kopitar, who racked up 67 points (19G, 48A) throughout the regular season. Los Angeles currently holds a 2-2-1 preseason record.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Defense: In Tuesday's game, the Golden Knights allowed goaltender Adin Hill to face 53 shots. Hill stood tall, but an ideal defensive effort will yield a lower opposing shot output.
Preparation: This is the second to last preseason game for Vegas before they play a regular season game on Oct. 11. Although these games don't count, the standings will start to reflect performance much sooner than later. Players will start to buckle down to get ready for the official games to begin.
