When the Vegas Golden Knights opened up a four-game road trip in Carolina on Jan. 31, they were coming off the All-Star break and bye week and were hungry to jump back in feet first.

After going up 3-1 in the third period, Vegas allowed the Hurricanes back into the game with two goals in less than four minutes to tie things up at 3-3.

One minute after Sebastian Aho's game-tying goal, Vegas went on the power play with a chance to take the lead back.

VGK@CAR: Tuch taps in tic-tac-toe set-up for late PPG

Right off the faceoff, Paul Stastny pulled the puck to his left where Mark Stone used a quick stick lift on Carolina All-Star defenseman Jaccob Slavin. Stone moved the puck to Shea Theodore at the point who used the open ice to survey the scene. He had his head up as he curled into the slot and drifted to the middle of the ice.

Theodore's body was showing signs that he was going to either skate to the right side of the ice, or at least make a pass there, but he pushed the puck back against the grain and onto the stick of Stastny. Rather than settling the puck down, Stastny tipped the pass to Alex Tuch who was standing at the top of the crease.

As quickly as he received it, Tuch tapped the puck into the open cage to complete the perfect passing play. The goal came five seconds into the Golden Knights' power play and stood as the game-winning goal with 2:28 left in regulation.
