The Sabres skinny: Buffalo is being led by veterans Evander Kane and Jason Pominvillie as well as third-year man Jack Eichel. All three have tallied seven points through five games. The Sabres have just one win this season as they work to figure out their identity under new coach Phil Housely. Buffalo has one of the most dynamic young players in the game in Eichel. The Sabres are allowing 3.67 goals against per game which is the major flaw in their game right now.
The Vegas skinny: The Golden Knights are among the hottest teams in the NHL with a 4-1 record. Injuries hit the Golden Knights hard last week as they lost goalie Marc-Andre Fleury as well as forwards Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Haula. Backup netminder Malcolm Subban stepped in and was solid while forwards Alex Tuch and Vadim Shipachyov were brilliant in a 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday. Consistency from those three players will be key for the Golden Knights.
