In his first game as team captain, Mark Stone put up two points (1G, 1A) as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Anaheim Ducks, 5-2, for their first win of the 2020-21 season Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The scoring came early and often as Jonathan Marchessault and Tomas Nosek scored 1:06 apart to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead. Anaheim bounced back as Max Comtois buried his first two goals of the season to level the score at 2-2. After a scoreless second period, Stone buried his first of the campaign just 49 seconds into the final frame to put Vegas ahead, 3-2. Insurance goals from Max Pacioretty and Alex Tuch sealed the victory for the Golden Knights as the team won its home opener for the third time in four seasons.

TURNING POINT
The pace of the game slowed during the second period as neither team found the back of the net for more than 20 minutes. When Vegas and Anaheim returned for the third, Stone took matters into his own hands as he potted the go-ahead goal less than a minute into the period.
