Thirty-three seconds into the contest, Reilly Smith netted a goal for the Golden Knights to give them an early 1-0 lead. Later in the period, Brett Howden extended the Vegas lead to 2-0. Jonathan Marchessault opened the second period with a power-play goal to hit 20 goals on the season. Keegan Kolesar put Vegas up, 4-0, when he scored a shorthanded goal 4:27 into the second period. Former Golden Knight Alex Tuch scored to make it a 4-1 game late in the second. Less than two minutes into the final frame, Mark Stone extended the Vegas lead to 5-1. John Hayden scored late in the third, but Vegas held on for the 5-2 victory.
