VEGAS (June 28, 2023) -The Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, June 28, that the team has signed forward Ivan Barbashev to a five-year contract worth an average annual value of $5,000,000.

Barbashev, 27, was acquired by Vegas from St. Louis on February 26 at the 2023 trade deadline. The forward appeared in 23 NHL games with Vegas during the 2022-23 regular season, recording 16 points (6G, 10A). During the Golden Knights 2023 Stanley Cup Championship run, Barbashev finished fifth in scoring for Vegas and tied for eighth in the NHL, posting 18 points (7G, 11A) in 22 games to help the club raise its first Stanley Cup. Barbashev's +14 rating trailed only linemate Jonathan Marchessault among all playoff players and he was plus or even in 21 of 22 games. His 64 hits in the playoffs were second on the team and sixth in the NHL.

Prior to joining Vegas, Barbashev appeared in 410 career NHL games all with the St. Louis Blues. The native of Moscow recorded a career-high 60 points (26 G, 34A) after suiting up in 81 of the club's 82 games over the 2021-22 season. Barbashev skated in 50 postseason contests with St. Louis and won the 2019 Stanley Cup with the Blues, topping the Boston Bruins in seven games. Through their run, Barbashev led all NHL skaters with 87 hits during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 27-year-old was drafted by St. Louis in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
