"As an organization, we are extremely proud to have two of our own youth hockey players represent Las Vegas for this once-in-a-lifetime event on one of the NHL's biggest stages," said Vegas Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz. "We are thankful for the D Las Vegas helping the Golden Knights grow the great sport of hockey throughout Las Vegas and beyond. This opportunity for our Lil' Knights is a direct testament of our combined support and commitment to growing the game."
This youth hockey element of NHL All-Star Weekend is designed to bring increased exposure to the league-wide Learn-To-Play program, in an effort to continue to grow the sport. All players participating have graduated from their respective Learn-To-Play program within the past 12 months. Participants were selected by how well they demonstrated the Declaration Of Principles, which includes courage, perseverance, acceptance, humility, respect, teamwork, integrity and passion.
Brayden and Charley were selected from a group of more than 100 children ages seven to nine years old. Children were required to submit video footage explaining how the Declaration Of Principles has affected their life. They then participated in a preliminary skills challenge at City National Arena which included a fastest lap, on-ice obstacle course and shooting and passing accuracy drills.
