Brabenec is in his second season playing in the QMJHL with the Charlottetown Islanders and currently leads the club in scoring with 25 points (8 G, 17 A) in 27 games. The forward's 64 points (17 G, 47 A) last season finished fifth on the Islanders in scoring, with fellow Vegas prospects Patrick Guay and Lukas Cormier finishing first and third on the team, respectively. Brabenec was recognized as the QMJHL's Rookie of the Year for his play during 2021-22 season. Prior to his time in Charlottetown, the 19-year-old competed for parts of two seasons with HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga. Brabenec was drafted by the Golden Knights in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
