How did you get to where you are now in the sports industry?
Over 30 years spent around the rink playing hockey, coaching, and gaining experience. Couple people believing in me and a little bit of luck.
What is your role within the Foley Entertainment Group organization?
Director of Girls and Women's Youth Hockey Programming. I oversee the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights Girls Hockey program as well as NHL Learn to Play and the Lil' Knights Cross ice hockey program. Mites at Knight game day activations and assist the VGK Foundation with community initiatives.
What is one of the greatest challenges of being a woman in sports?
Part of my role is advocating for more girls and women to join sports and teaching young women there is a path for them in hockey. Doors are opening now for young women to aspire to work in an NHL front office, broadcasting or even playing professionally in Women's Pro Leagues. The challenge is visibility, but that is changing quickly.
What are the most rewarding things about working in sports?
With Foley Entertainment Group we have Knights Hockey with VGK and HSK, IFL, NBA G League and AFC Bournemouth you get to be around a lot of cool events and collaborate with talented people daily.
Any advice for other women trying to break into the sports world?
Always be passionate about what you are doing. Work as hard as you can on the task at hand no matter how big or small. You never know where it could lead.
