Get out your 2021 planner, Kraken fans. Mark it down: The Kraken will announce its selections in the 2021 Expansion Draft July 21 at 5 p.m. Pacific.
That is 210 days and one awarded Stanley Cup from now, but who's counting? Well, Kraken GM Ron Francis. The NHL's deadline to receive each of 30 NHL teams' (Vegas is exempt) list of available players July 17 at 2 p.m. Pacific.

The expansion draft dates calculate to 69 hours to decide which player to select from each franchise. Fans can be certain the Kraken braintrust is already making educated guesses about which forwards, defensemen and goalies will appear on the list.
Along with announcing the expansion draft key dates, the NHL released a Critical Dates list Tuesday afternoon, including the Kraken's first-ever participation in the league's amateur draft. the 2021 NHL Draft is scheduled for July 23 (First Round) and July 24. (Rounds 2-7).
Here's the full list of critical dates for the upcoming season, playoffs and post-season activities, including the start of free agency July 28:
- December 31 - Training camps open for seven Clubs that did not participate in the resumption of play for the 2019-20 season (Anaheim, Buffalo, Detroit, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Ottawa, San Jose) - January 3 - Training camps begin for remaining 24 teams - January 13 - 2020-21 regular season begins - April 12 - Trade deadline (12pm PT) - May 8* - Last day of regular season - May 11* - Stanley Cup Playoffs begin - July 9* - Last possible day of Stanley Cup Final - July 17 Deadline for Protection Lists for Expansion Draft (2pm PT) - July 21 - Expansion Draft (5pm PT) - July 23 - First Round of 2021 NHL Entry Draft - July 24 - Rounds 2-7 of 2021 NHL Entry Draft - July 28 - Free Agency Begins (9am PT)
