"Hopefully we get Jarnkrok back when get home," said Kraken captain Mark Giordano after Tuesday's 4-2 loss in New Jersey. "Those are two top guys in our lineup [Jarnkrok and center Yanni Gourde, who debuted against the Devils]. It will give us a boost."
Jarnkrok, 30, was a reliable and productive forward in the Nashville Predators lineup for seven-plus seasons, totaling 94 goals and 117 assists in 508 NHL games. He scored 13 goals and added 15 assists last season in Nashville, which paces to 22 goals and 25 assists over a traditional 82-game season.
Jarnkrok has scored double-digits in goals each of the last six straight seasons. He drafted 51st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2010 and traded to Nashville in 2014.
The Swedish forward, who starred for his country in the world championships in 2012 and 2013, missed his first meeting against his former team last Thursday. He will get two more chances when the Predators travel to Climate Pledge Arena for games Jan. 25 and March 2.
To make room for Jarnkrok on the Kraken's 23-man active roster, forward Alex Barré-Boulet was placed on waivers Thursday.
Seattle acquired Barre-Boulet on waivers from Tampa Bay Oct. 11 to shore up the forward corps with Jarnkrok in the protocol and others potentially missing the season opener at Vegas. Barré-Boulet appeared in two games for the Kraken, earning the primary assist on a crucial goal scored by Alex Wennberg in the Oct. 14 victory over Nashville.
