Kraken captain Mark Giordano was on the ice at Climate Pledge Arena Wednesday morning to prepare for a game with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to the game, he is scheduled to be honored for reaching a milestone 1,000th NHL game during the team's recent road trip.
After morning skate Wednesday, Kraken coach Dave Hakstol announced Giordano would not be in the lineup Wednesday night. He offered no further explanation.

With the NHL Trade Deadline set for Monday at 12 noon Pacific time, Kraken GM Ron Francis has publicly acknowledged he has talked with Giordano about a possible trade that would give the highly respected veteran a chance to win his first Stanley Cup and potentially fortify the Kraken's supply of future draft choices.
Jaden Schwartz was not at morning skate and Hakstol did not confirm if he would play Wednesday night.
Giordano was selected by the Kraken during the NHL Expansion Draft from the Calgary Flames, his only NHL team during the first 15 seasons of his NHL career. He was named the first captain in Kraken history prior to the regular season this past fall.
In 55 games with Seattle, Giordano has six goals and 17 assists for 23 points, which ties him with Vince Dunn for the team lead in points by a defenseman.
Giordano will be honored prior to Wednesday's game for reaching the 1,000 career game mark. Fans attending the game will want to be in their seats by 7 p.m. to experience the ceremony.
Schwartz returned from a hand injury on March 5 after not playing since December 29. He has played in all five games since his return. He has seven goals and 21 points in 34 games after signing as a free agent with the Kraken in July.
