When he snagged one of the 9 a.m. appointments at the Seattle Kraken's new flagship store, Paul Buxton knew he had a guaranteed spot near the front of the line. But the Microsoft software developer couldn't wait any longer, so he masked up with a Seattle Metropolitans face covering and brought coffee and a pastry to stand in line well before 8 a.m. Buxton had his list: "A flag, coffee mug, a license plate holder for my car."
By 8:30, more fans joined Buxton in the socially distanced lines (six feet apart, just like a hockey goal width). Chris Soriano, who just stepped down as the Washington State University hockey coach, was holding his young son, Jack, when he noticed a former WSU player, Daniel Mrozek, in line.
