Defenseman Andrei Markov turned 38 on Tuesday, though he will not be in the lineup against Anaheim because of a lower-body injury, ending his streak of 116 consecutive games. Zach Redmond will take his place. Markov, who was injured during Montreal's 2-1 win at the Washington Capitals on Saturday, has not missed a game since April 3, 2015, when coach Michel Therrien rested him for a 3-2 shootout loss at the New Jersey Devils. "He's a really important part of this hockey team," Therrien said after the morning skate in Brossard, Quebec. "He's doing a lot of good things on the ice, and that's why we don't want to rush his injury. It's not a major one, it's a day-to-day, but the most important thing for him and for us is that he's 100 percent." Markov, who was also a healthy scratch on April 9, 2014, has played 323 of 325 games for Montreal since the beginning of the 2012-13 season. Prior to that, he missed 181 games because of knee injuries during the three previous seasons. "We want him to be healthy, that's the most important thing," Therrien said. "He's working really hard at his age and the fact that he's capable to play the game the way he's playing the game with all those years of experience, for me it's phenomenal." Goaltender Carey Price will make his sixth consecutive start.
