Panarin, Fox propel Rangers over Ducks in OT, 4-3

NEW YORK -- Adam Fox scored 55 seconds into overtime and the New York Rangers came back against the Anaheim Ducks for a 4-3 win at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

Fox scored his first NHL overtime winner on a 2-on-1 with Artemi Panarin. He also had two assists for his fourth three-point game this season.
"When I saw a 2-on-1 chance I got a little second wind there, especially with [Panarin]," Fox said. "I played those 2-on-1s a few too many times in practice so I tried to do what the forwards do against us."

Panarin had three assists and has scored eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his past two games. Alexandar Georgiev made 20 saves for his first win in six starts and eight appearances since Jan. 10.
The Rangers (38-17-5) were down 3-2 midway through the third period. It was their 20th come-from-behind win this season, which is tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the most in the NHL.
They also came back from down 2-0 against the Dallas Stars for a 7-4 win on Saturday, when Panarin scored five points (one goal, four assists).
"I think it speaks to how focused this group is on accomplishing our first goal to make the playoffs," forward Chris Kreider said of the comeback wins. "So regardless if the game is not going well or you don't feel like you're going well individually guys are able to refocus and help the team try to win a hockey game. Regardless of where we're at in a game, home or on the road, we have that ability to dial it in and get back to playing simple hockey and doing little things that will help the team. It's ultimately something everyone has bought into."
Derek Grant, Max Comtois and Cam Fowler scored for Anaheim (27-25-11). Adam Henrique had two assists and John Gibson made 34 saves.
The Ducks went 0-3-2 on their five-game road trip.
"It's a tough trip overall," Henrique said.
They started it with lopsided losses against the Chicago Blackhawks (8-3) and Nashville Predators (4-1), and finished with three one-goal games, including a 2-1 shootout loss against the New Jersey Devils and a 4-3 loss against the New York Islanders.
Anaheim had one-goal leads against the Devils and Rangers.
"The first game was an absolute debacle and our last two games here our guys have played hard, they've played hard for each other," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "Tonight, here in this building against a really good team we checked well, we had our chances."
Grant gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead at 10:35 of the third period. Danny O'Regan blocked Patrik Nemeth's shot on the far end, got up, found the puck and sprung Grant for a breakaway.
But Kreider scored his 39th goal of the season and NHL-leading 20th on the power play at 13:40 to make it 3-3. It was Kreider's 400th NHL point (216 goals, 184 assists) in 633 games.
"A 3-2 game in your own building and you're getting a lot of chances, a lot of shots, so they felt comfortable," Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. "We feel comfortable playing in those games. I wish we were up by two goals at that point, but you find a way. When you're having a good year like we're having you find a way to win those games sometimes."

Jonny Brodzinski gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at 4:29 of the first period, scoring his first goal with a shot off the rush from the top of the right circle.
Comtois tied it 1-1 at 14:05, when Terry's shot deflected off of him and into the net.
The Rangers regained the lead 2-1 on Mika Zibanejad's goal on a one-timer during a delayed penalty 6-on-5 situation at 3:06 of the second period.
Fowler answered with a power-play goal 1:47 later, making it 2-2 with a wrist shot from inside the blue line.
"They've got a good team over there. they push, push hard, a lot of speed," Henrique said. "They strike on a late power play to tie it up and obviously take it in overtime. We had our opportunities, tough one to let get away."
