Though the rookie forward skated Thursday, he will not play Game 4 at PNC Arena (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS, FS-CR, NBCSWA) because of a concussion.
Washington leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.

Svechnikov was injured in a fight with Alex Ovechkin during the Hurricanes' 5-0 win in Game 3 on Monday. When asked if Svechnikov could return before the end of the series, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said, "I can't answer that. I don't know."
Brind'Amour said Tuesday that Svechnikov was going through concussion protocol after being helped off the ice following his fight with Ovechkin, so it was a positive that he skated Thursday wearing a full cage on his helmet for added protection. Defenseman Jake Bean was the only other Hurricanes player to skate.
"That's a good sign," Brind'Amour said.
But Brind'Amour said there was no way Svechnikov would be able to talk his way into the lineup for Game 4.
"When he gets cleared, then we'll talk," Brind'Amour said.
Svechnikov, the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has three points (two goals, one assist) in three Stanley Cup Playoff games after getting 37 points (20 goals, 17 assists) in 82 regular-season games.
The Hurricanes will also be without forward Micheal Ferland, who left Game 3 with an upper-body injury, but defenseman Calvin de Haan is moving closer to returning from an upper-body injury that has sidelined him since March 31.
Brind'Amour said de Haan might participate in warmups but wasn't ready to say he will play in the game. He said Wednesday that de Haan has been cleared medically and it is up to him when he plays.
"We'll see," Brind'Amour said. "He's getting closer to steps to getting in to play. We got him in a good practice yesterday and we'll put him in warmup maybe if he wants and hopefully he can play here at some point."
