The forward was injured during a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday. Coach Jeff Blashill said he will have surgery Tuesday.

for third on Detroit in goals, behind forward Andreas Athanasiou (11) and center Dylan Larkin (10).
Mantha led the Red Wings in goals last season with 24 and was third with 48 points. He has 101 points (52 goals, 49 assists) in 177 games over four NHL seasons.
"He's been playing excellent," Blashill said after the morning skate prior to the Red Wings hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-D, SUN, NHL.TV). "He's done a real good job of becoming a more complete player, so we're losing a real good player."
The Red Wings will also be without Bertuzzi against the Lightning. He was suspended for two games for a hit on forward Matt Calvert in the loss to Colorado.
