David Rittich made 31 saves for the Flames (27-19-6), who were coming off a 5-4 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. It was Calgary's first win in three games (1-1-1) and second in the past five (2-2-1).

"It was a hard game. They had a really good first period, especially the second half," Rittich said. "They had a lot of shots, a lot of good looks. We took over in the second -- two tough goals that they scored. Thank God for [Mangiapane]. He got a couple goals, and we went into the third up 3-2. The third one, I should say, I kind of gave them one point here."

Leon Draisaitl had two assists to extend his point streak to nine games for Edmonton (26-18-6), which played for the first time since Jan. 18. Mike Smith made 25 saves.
Defenseman Matt Benning tied the game 3-3 for the Oilers at 11:49 of the third period with his first goal in 37 games dating to March 16, 2019.
"It's always tough coming back from a break, and our team has not been very good when we have come back from breaks," Edmonton captain Connor McDavid said. "But I thought they scored a little bit of a fluky one to start, and it puts us a little bit behind the eight ball, but we did a good job battling back, earning ourselves a point, and then losing in a skills competition."

CGY@EDM: Benning ties it with first of season

Elias Lindholm gave the Flames a 1-0 lead at 1:01 of the first period when his centering pass went in off defenseman Adam Larsson's stick.
Kailer Yamamoto tied it 1-1 at 5:48 of the second period when he scored on the rebound of a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shot.
Mangiapane made it 2-1 at 13:05 when he one-timed a pass from Sam Bennett.

Alex Chiasson scored on the power play at 14:41 to tie it 2-2, knocking in a loose puck in front.
Mangiapane scored with a backhand off a pass from Matthew Tkachuk to give the Flames a 3-2 lead at 19:15.
"A lot of people in Calgary were talking before that it's must-see TV," Tkachuk said. "I don't know, I guess it was a must-see hockey game for fans. It's two teams close to each other city-wise, and fans get into it. I guess it's been a rivalry for years."
Draisaitl has five goals and 11 assists during his point streak.
"In the first 10 minutes, we looked rusty coming back from the break," Oilers coach Dave Tippett said. "We were jittery with the puck, chasing the puck, and we gave up that fluky goal. I was hoping we would start a little quicker, but once we got going, I thought in the second period that we were all right. We had some coverage issues on some goals that I would like to see a better job done on."

They said it

"Our only concern right now is to get two points. You look at the standings, and this is obviously a four-point game. You're trying to move up a day at a time. When you're playing your rivals like that, obviously you want to step up and want to earn those points, and we did that tonight." -- Flames forward Sean Monahan
"We definitely would have liked to get that extra point tonight. We got one and we have some games in hand (on other Pacific Division teams in the race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs). But that's going to be the way we're going to have to play from now on. It was tight-checking, there wasn't a lot out there." -- Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
