Kane dragged the puck around defenseman Filip Hronek on a 2-on-1 before beating Thomas Greiss with a wrist shot for a 5-1 lead at 9:10 of the third period. Kane is the 100th player to score 400 NHL goals.
"When I was getting toward the top of the [face-off] circle, I saw [Hronek] was going to try and slide, tried to slow up, make a move and hit a spot with my shot," Kane said. "Nice to see it go in, but no matter the milestone, you're always just trying to make the right play out there."
The No. 1 pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, Kane has played 996 games and is fourth in Blackhawks history in goals (400), third in assists (656) and fourth in points (1,056).
Kane had two assists, Alex DeBrincat had a goal and three assists, Ryan Carpenter scored twice, and Kevin Lankinen made an NHL career-high 44 saves for Chicago (12-7-4), which split a two-game set against Detroit after a 5-3 loss here Saturday.
"I don't think it was a perfect game by any means, but we were pretty tight defensively, especially the first two periods," Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said. "We would've loved to create a little more, but overall we did what we had to do, and when we finally broke through, we relaxed and began to make more plays, execution went up."
