Dominik Kahun
agreed to a one-year, $975,000 contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

"I'm very excited to join the Oilers," Kahun told the Oilers NOW podcast. "I hope we can start play as soon as possible. I'm super excited and very happy it worked out like that."
The 25-year-old forward, who was an unrestricted free agent after he did not receive a qualifying offer from the Buffalo Sabres, scored 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 56 games for the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins last season, including four points (two goals, two assists) in six games after he was traded to Buffalo on Feb 24.
Signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent May 21, 2018, Kahun has scored 68 points (25 goals, 43 assists) in 138 regular-season games for the Sabres, Penguins and Blackhawks. The native of Plana, Czech Republic, moved to Germany when he was a child and has played with Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl in German youth leagues, four IIHF World Junior Championships and Olympic qualifying tournaments. He said the Hart Trophy winner helped play a role with him joining the Oilers.
"It helped me for sure, a lot," Kahun said. "We obviously have a lot of contact together. When there was a thing about Edmonton, we started talking a lot. He sure helped me with that and I'm glad for that."
