But the Hurricanes are the only team of the eight remaining in the second round who have not lost a home game this postseason. They have outscored opponents 22-7 at PNC Arena with a near-perfect penalty kill at 94.1 percent (16-for-17) and a more effective power play, with four goals in 24 opportunities (16.7 percent).
Defenseman Tony DeAngelo said he's confident they can turn things around. They'll have to against Shesterkin, a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, given annually to the goalie voted the best at his position by NHL general managers. Carolina and New York have combined for nine goals through the first three games of the series.
"Special teams is the biggest part of the playoffs," DeAngelo said. "We've got to figure it out. You want to win a Stanley Cup or a playoff round, you've got to score on the power play like all the other teams around the League. … I've got a lot of belief in the guys. We're working hard. [The power play] just seems a little flat."
