Vegas Golden Knights forward Phil Kessel skated in his 990th consecutive game against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Tuesday, breaking former NHL defenseman Keith Yandle's record of 989.
Yandle congratulated the League's newest ironman in a video posted to social media.
"To play in even one NHL game is a remarkable achievement," Yandle said. "To play in every game going back 13 years takes unbelievable talent to stay in the lineup day in and day out, tremendous determination to play through aches and pains and a whole lot of luck. Above all, it takes unwavering commitment to the organization you represent, teammates you share the ice with and your fans."
