Jonathan Quick made 28 saves for his first shutout of the season for the Kings (5-6-3). It was his 53rd NHL shutout and first against the Wild in 31 games.
"We started the game really strong," Quick said. "I think that first period we were clicking, getting pucks in, forechecking, making the play in their end, and we just kind of continued that play throughout the night."
Jaret Anderson-Dolan had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles, which is 2-0-1 in its past three following a four-game losing streak.
Kaapo Kahkonen made 25 saves for the Wild (6-6-0).
The Kings took a 1-0 lead on Anderson-Dolan's goal at 3:36 of the first period. He scored for the second straight game by putting a wrist shot into an open net from the left circle during a power play. Jeff Carter had an assist, his sixth point (one goal, five assists) in five games against the Wild.
It was Los Angeles' fifth power-play goal in its past three games.
"They eventually found their legs and skated themselves back into the game and it wasn't an easy night," Kings coach Todd McLellan said. "We needed some timely goals to put them out, but we're happy for a lot of individuals and for the team."
