"We gave them four goals," Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Our mistakes were really egregious. We can't do this to a team like this that has a lot of scoring power. I thought when we tied it up, then we went into a shell after that for whatever reason. We should've kept going at them. We had them on the run a little bit and we let them off the hook."
Sorensen said the message on the bench was simple after the Sharks lead disappeared.
"Just keep getting pucks behind them and take the puck to the net," Sorensen said. "We knew we're a dangerous team, even if it's 10 minutes left in the third period. So just keep pulling."
Sorensen gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 4:47 of the first period, taking a cross-ice pass from Burns and scoring from close range.
Thornton made it 2-0 at 5:36 of the second period when Sorensen's one-timer from the slot deflected off him. Thornton played his 1,499th game, tying Mike Modano for 19th place on the NHL's all-time list.
