Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each had four points for the Edmonton Oilers in a 5-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Saturday.

McDavid had two goals and two assists, and Draisaitl had a goal and three assists. Tyson Barrie and Zach Hyman each had two assists, and Stuart Skinner made 30 saves for Edmonton (14-11-0), which scored three straight power-play goals in a span of 8:11 in the second period.
"It felt like we were on the power play for 10 minutes straight or something like that," said McDavid, the Oilers captain. "… It was kind of a weird period. I thought the power play did a good job of finding a way to capitalize, and I thought the rest of our group found a way to get themselves back into it. I know it was a long time to kind of sit there, so I thought they did a good job too."
Nick Suzuki and Arber Xhekaj each scored a power-play goal, and Jake Allen made 17 saves for Montreal (12-11-1).
"Definitely we wanted to stay more disciplined than we were," said Suzuki, the Canadiens captain. "You just can't take penalties when you're down, give those guys 5-on-3s, so much time and space, and they capitalized."

MTL@EDM: McDavid hits the 20-goal mark with PPG

Darnell Nurse put the Oilers ahead 4-3 with five seconds left in the second. He drove the slot and scored on a wrist shot after taking a pass from Draisaitl.
McDavid scored his second of the game and 21st of the season at 14:40 of the third period for the 5-3 final.
"I thought we were not very good for 40 minutes and we were lucky to find ourselves up one," McDavid said. "It was kind of a weird game that way, but I thought our group did a really good job of playing a nice solid, mature third period and not giving them anything, and anything they did get, Stu kind of shut it down. So I thought it was a really good third."
Suzuki gave Montreal a 1-0 lead on the power play with a shot past Skinner's glove from the right side at 16:37 of the first period.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tied it 1-1 with Edmonton's first power-play goal at 1:25 of the second.
Draisaitl put the Oilers up 2-1 at 6:27, scoring for the fifth straight game. He scored on a one-timer over Allen's glove from the right side after Montreal defenseman Joel Edmundson was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct at 5:20 for cross-checking Hyman with Kirby Dach in the penalty box.
"It's tough to lose a guy like that, but you've got to adapt," Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle said.
McDavid made it 3-1 at 9:36 with the Oilers' second straight 5-on-3 goal. He took a pass from Barrie and scored from the left face-off circle.
"They've got a good power play, and we know we've got to try our best not to let that happen," Guhle said. "But the game happens, and sometimes there's penalties that are called."

MTL@EDM: McDavid buries it on a breakaway for second

Evgenii Dadonov cut it to 3-2 at 13:26 with the first even-strength goal of the game.
Xhekaj tied it 3-3 at 16:38 with the third 5-on-3 goal of the period.
"That first half of the second period was just one of the weirder things I've seen," Suzuki said. "Just being 5-on-3 three times, you never really see that, so it was great for us to battle back, tie it up."
Skinner made 12 saves in the third period.
"I thought we finished off strong," Skinner said. "We just stuck with our game plan. I thought everyone was buying in on that. … We were blocking shots, doing everything that was needed to finish out the game. And you can't ask for a better period with no goals."
