North Carolina Tar Heels player scores wild, Ovechkin-esque goal

The Washington Capitals have Ovi. The North Carolina Tar Heels have O'Sy.

UNC forward Patrick O'Shaughnessy scored a spectacular no-look goal while falling to the ice in a 6-3 win against Virginia Tech on Saturday.
O'Shaughnessy picked up a puck on the right side and had a clear path to the net. As he was making his move, he went down on his left knee. As he slid across the front of the net, the puck ended up behind him.
Rather than admit defeat, he kept his eye on the puck, reached back with his stick and swept it through the five-hole of unsuspecting Vrginia Tech goalie Ian Kee, who got his pad down just a fraction of a second too late.

The play, predictably, lit up social media.
It also immediately recalled another famous goal from the player with the second-most goals in NHL history.

Now, Alex Ovechkin's "simply sensational" goal from his rookie year was scored from his back with him batting the puck in from over his head. But the rough outlines of the two amazing scores are pretty similar: no-look, falling to the ice, sweeping the puck in from an odd position down on the ice and a total how-in-the-world-did-that-go-in factor.
Well done, Patrick O'Shaughnessey, or as we will be reffering to him from now on, ACC-ex Ovechkin.
