Marcus Johansson was traded to the Washington Capitals by the Seattle Kraken on Monday.

The Kraken received forward Daniel Sprong, a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft for the forward, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the season. Seattle will retain 50 percent of Johansson's contract.
Johansson played for the Capitals from 2010-17.
"Absolutely. I think this is the one place I wanted to go," he said Tuesday. "We were here a few weeks ago, and coming here always still feels like home. I'm just very excited for the opportunity. This feels special and I'm just very happy to be here."
Johansson played for Washington against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
"I think he's a versatile player that has a comfort level with people off the ice and I think on the ice," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said. "A lot of games playing with Evgeny Kuznetsov], a lot with [Nicklas Backstrom
to the Winnipeg Jets for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 draft. They traded forward Calle Jarnkrok to the Calgary Flames for a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, a third-round pick in the 2023 draft, and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 draft on Wednesday.
