TBL@DET: Coleman roofs Johnson feed for OT winner

DETROIT --Blake Coleman scored at 2:17 of overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday.

Coleman scored from the left face-off circle off a pass from Tyler Johnson on a 2-on-1.
"Detroit hadn't played in [five] days, and they were waiting for us," Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman said. "They were better than us tonight, especially in the second period, but we fought back in the third."
Coleman, Johnson and Erik Cernak each had a goal and an assist for the Lightning (18-4-2), who are 8-0-1 in their past nine games. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves and is 11-0-0 against the Red Wings.

TBL@DET: Larkin rockets wrist shot inside far post

Thomas Greiss made 25 saves for the Red Wings (7-16-4), who have lost four straight.
"I thought this was one of the best games we've played in a while, especially in the second period," Detroit captain Dylan Larkin said. "We were on our toes, we were hard to play against and we created pressure. I just don't think you can sit back and defend your way into two points in the third period against that team."
The teams play again here Thursday to finish the two-game set.

TBL@DET: Point caps quick tic-tac-toe set-up for PPG

The Red Wings took a 1-0 lead at 3:04 of the first period on Adam Erne's power-play goal. Brayden Point tied it 1-1 at 12:29, scoring a power-play goal from the slot after a quick sequence of passes.
Tampa Bay went ahead 2-1 lead 35 seconds later when Johnson tipped in Coleman's point shot at 13:04. Patrik Nemeth tied it 2-2 at 6:59 of the second period on a one-timer with Vasilevskiy screened.
"[Filip Zadina's] screen on that play was big," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "That's what we need to do every night: Make things hard on goalies by taking his eyes away."
Larkin, who had missed four games with an upper-body injury, gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead at 9:05 with his first goal in 13 games.
"We had a good rush going and I just saw a little space over [Vasilevskiy's] blocker," Larkin said. "That felt good."

TBL@DET: Cernak beats Greiss five-hole for tying goal

Cernak tied it 3-3 at 9:40 of the third period after Pat Maroon found him open in the right circle.
"I don't think there was ever a doubt in our minds that we were going to make a push," Coleman said.
NOTES: A malfunctioning horn sounded after every 60 seconds on the game clock during the first period. After the horn interrupted a Lightning power play, the teams were told to ignore it for the rest of the period. "It's almost instinctive to stop playing when you hear the horn," Coleman said. "After the first five or six times, I think the guys finally settled down." … Tampa Bay is 19-0-1 in its past 20 games against Detroit. The Red Wings last defeated the Lightning in regulation on Nov. 3, 2015. … Cernak, who was penalized for fighting Anthony Mantha in the second period, had a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
