Calvin de Haan signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.

The 32-year-old defenseman had 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 53 regular-season games for the Carolina Hurricanes last season and did not play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Selected by the New York Islanders with the No. 12 pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, de Haan has 131 points (21 goals, 110 assists) in 573 regular-season games for the Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks and Hurricanes, and five points (one goal, four assists) in 37 playoff games.

"It wasn't too hard of a decision to sign the contract with Tampa," de Haan said. "The success they've had over the past 10 years, it's a great organization, just being on the opposing side for a few years now. Going into that building, it's one of my favorite rinks to play in. I'm just looking forward to starting a new adventure with a new team.

"I'm not a step behind. I can still play, I know I can. It was a bit of a frustrating season in a sense last year after getting scratched for a long time. I'm looking forward to a new opportunity and showing what I can do and going in on a clean slate in the organization."

Conor Sheary signed a three-year, $6 million contract with the Lightning on Saturday ($2 million AAV) after the 31-year-old forward had 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 82 games for the Washington Capitals last season.

Signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins as an undrafted free agent July 1, 2015, Sheary has 252 points (120 goals, 132 assists) in 531 regular-season games for the Capitals, Penguins and Buffalo Sabres and 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) in 72 playoff games. He won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

Tampa Bay also signed forwards Luke Glendening and Josh Archibald on Saturday. Each received a two-year, $1.6 million contract ($800,000 AAV).

Glendening, 34, had six points (three goals, three assists) in 70 regular-season games for the Dallas Stars last season and three points (two goals, one assist) in 17 playoff games.

Signed by the Detroit Red Wings as an undrafted free agent July 5, 2013, Glendening has 148 points (69 goals, 79 assists) in 706 regular-season games for the Stars and Red Wings and eight points (five goals, three assists) in 40 playoff games.

Archibald, 31, had 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 62 regular-season games for the Penguins last season. He has 83 points (45 goals, 38 assists) in 305 regular-season games for the Penguins, Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes and two points (one goal, one assist) in 24 playoff games.

The Lightning (46-30-6) finished third in the Atlantic Division last season before losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games in the Eastern Conference First Round.
