Philadelphia Flyers season snapshot memorable moments

With the NHL pausing the 2019-20 regular season on March 12 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus, NHL.com is taking stock of each of the League's 31 teams.
Today, a look at three memorable moments for the Philadelphia Flyers at the pause:

#OskarStrong

Some things are just bigger than rivalries and bigger than hockey.
When Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a form of bone cancer, early in the season, players -- not only
teammates
but
opponents
and even some
former players-turned-broadcasters
-- had an outpouring of love for him.
For nearly every game the Flyers played after the announcement, opponents, even fierce rivals, wore shirts that said "Oskar Strong" with Lindblom's No. 23 on them under their jerseys.
Lindblom got a standing ovation while watching his first game at Wells Fargo Center in January, and in February, he made a special appearance to
meet with his teammates and coaches

Sunday Schooled

Gritty going against two nuns in a game of basketball pretty much speaks for itself.
But there was more to it than just the big orange mascot blocking a shot (with authority) by one of Francis de Sales School's women of the cloth.
The game was to celebrate the donation of a new automated external defibrillator (AED) through a partnership between the Flyers, Penn Medicine and Simon's Heart.

Remembering Emery

When goalie Carter Hart returned to the Flyers lineup in February from an injury, he had a special custom-made helmet to honor the late Ray Emery, who played in three of his 11 NHL seasons in Philadelphia.
