Philadelphia made it 3-0 at 28 seconds of the second when Emil Andrae one-timed a rebound in the left face-off circle for his first NHL goal in his 16th game.
“It was awesome,” Andrae said. “You can see my celebration here too. I was pretty hyped. … I’ve been doing a lot of good things offensively. I’ve been shooting a lot of pucks and creating a lot of chances. I think it was meant to be. It’s fun to be rewarded.”
Eichel cut it to 3-1 at 7:42 from the top of the slot off a no-look backhand pass from Barbashev before assisting on Barbashev’s goal that made it 3-2 at 11:32.
“At the end of the day, it’s 3-0, and it’s easy to sort of say, ‘Let’s move on and get ready for the next one,’” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “The guys dug in. I didn’t think we were far behind with our ability to catch up. We have goal-scorers in the room. … It was a game we were way too loose to expect to win anything playing like that. Some nights over the course of 82, those happen. We were able to come out on the right side.”
