The rookie center, who was named to the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, sustained a lower-body injury when he got tangled up with Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi during the Canucks' 2-0 loss on Thursday. Pettersson, who appeared to injure his right leg, was scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday. There is no timetable for his return, but Vancouver coach Travis Green said Pettersson is walking normally.
The Canucks are 4-4-0 in their past eight games after going 5-1-0 in their previous six games. They have been shut out three times in their past six games.
Goalie Michael Hutchinson will make his second straight start for the Maple Leafs, who will try to avoid a season-long three-game losing streak following a five-game winning streak. Frederik Andersen, who practiced on Friday and took part in Toronto's optional morning skate, will miss his fifth straight start with a groin injury.

Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom, who will start, is 9-2-0 with a 1.82 goals-against average and .938 save percentage in his past 11 starts.
Maple Leafs center John Tavares has multiple points in in six of his past seven games (six goals, six assists) and has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in his past eight.
