Standing up for Oil Country 50/50 Program FAQs

Who can apply to participate in the 50/50 program?

Registered charitable organizations in Northern and Central Alberta can apply.

If you are a Minor Hockey Team or Association, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) has teamed up with the Hockey Alberta Foundation to support grassroots hockey in Northern and Central Alberta. To learn more about the Hockey Alberta Member Grant Program and to apply, click here.

What is the application deadline?

There is no specific deadline for applications, as they are accepted throughout the year. However, we encourage applicants to submit their applications early for timely consideration of the 2023-24 NHL Season. The first round of applications will close Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

When can I expect a response regarding my application?

Given the large number of applicants, only successful applicants will be contacted.

What happens if my charity is selected?

If your charity is selected, you will be contacted by an EOCF representative who will guide you through the next steps. This includes a detailed discussion of the 50/50 program requirements, gaining a better understanding of your charitable initiatives, and signing a participant agreement.

It is important to note that the EOCF does hold separate 50/50 events, such as concerts, where your application will be automatically entered to participate. Please note, this selection does not impact your eligibility for the main 50/50 program.

Can I be selected as a beneficiary every year?

There are no restrictions on the frequency of selection.

Are there any other funding opportunities available?
