Douglas A. Cifu is the Vice Chairman, Partner, and Alternate Governor of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment (SSE), the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers, FLA Live Arena, and SSE's additional operating entities. He is also Chief Executive Officer of Virtu Financial, one of the nation's foremost providers of financial technology products and services, which he co-founded along with Panthers Owner, Chairman, and Governor Vincent J. Viola in 2008.
Prior to Virtu, Cifu practiced law for 18 years at the international law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he was a partner. While there, Cifu served as a member of the firm's Management Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Corporate Department, and Co-Head of the Private Equity Group. Highly regarded by his peers, Cifu was recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer for buyouts and private equity transactions.
A native of Syosset, N.Y., Cifu graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University, where he was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society, before completing his J.D. at Columbia Law School.
Cifu currently serves on the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the board of visitors of Columbia College at Columbia University.
He resides in Jupiter, Fla. with his wife, Melissa Lautenberg Cifu, their daughter, Rachel, and son, Daniel.
