After turning aside 39 of 40 shots in 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, Lyon stopped 56 of 58 shots to backstop the Panthers to a 7-2 beatdown of the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
Making history, those 56 were just one shy of Roberto Luongo's single-game franchise record.
Near the end of the game, "Ly-on!" chants could be heard from echoing from the stands.
"I do hear it," said Lyon, who's gone 9-3-1 with a .916 save percentage over multiple stints with the Panthers this season. "Playing in the NHL is awesome. I definitely don't take it for granted."
Closing out the week, Lyon extended his personal winning streak to six games when he gobbled up 22 of 24 shots to lead the Panthers to a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
Since his streak began on March 29, Lyon leads the NHL with 194 saves.
"He's probably one of the main reasons we've been able to turn this around," Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk said of Lyon, who's only appeared in 37 NHL games in his career. "We're very lucky to have him. We're trying to play as best we can in front of him because we know he's giving it all in net for us."
