Good morning and welcome to "Cats & Coffee," a weekly segment, presented by Koffee Kult, in which we serve up an exciting look at what's on deck for your Florida Panthers. Like our friends at Koffee Kult, this forecast serves up only the best -- so sit back, sip and enjoy our latest brew of news, notes and information.
Anton Lundell had himself a weekend.
Just a few weeks after being selected by the Florida Panthers with the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the 19-year-old center showed off his scoring touch and sent social media into a frenzy when he lit the lamp four times to help lead HIFK to a 5-2 win over SaiPa on Saturday.

Completing his natural hat trick 54 seconds into the second period, Lundell's biggest highlight of the night came when he capped off a stunning end-to-end rush by splitting through the opposing team's defensemen before sending the puck over the goaltender's glove to put HIFK on top 3-0.
Lundell's final goal of the game came on a penalty shot in the third period.

Producing at better than a point-per-game clip, Lundell has notched eight points in seven games to jumpstart his third season in the Finnish Elite League. After scoring 10 goals in 44 games last season, he's poised to eclipse that number as he currently sits second in Liiga with seven goals.
Although it may be early, the Panthers appear to have found another Finnish gem in Lundell.
"He's somebody who competes in all areas of the game," Panthers general manager Bill Zito said of Lundell following the first round of the draft, which was held digitally this year. "One of the hallmarks of Anton is his compete. He enjoys hockey. He likes to play. He wants to win. "Without putting too much pressure on him or trying to use too many superlatives, he's the type of player that we think we'd like to bring in to be a Florida Panther, somebody who does the little things and likes to play in all areas of the ice, who likes to play hockey and wants to win."

PRISKIE PAYS IT FORWARD

Chase Priskie has fond memories of the Panthers IceDen.
Long before he was a defenseman clawing his way up the depth chart in South Florida, the 25-year-old spent most of his formative years at the rink in Coral Springs, learning the finer points of the game from experienced coaches and instructors while competing for the Junior Panthers.
Hoping to inspire the next generation of hockey players in the area, Priskie returned to the rink this past weekend to serve as a guest instructor for one of the Panthers' "Learn to Play" groups.

"Today's been an awesome day," said Priskie, who was acquired by the Panthers at this year's trade deadline. "To be honest, it brings me back to when I learned to skate here. For these kids to come out after not skating since March, they've done a great job. It's been a lot of fun."
For more on Priskie's day at the IceDen, check back at FloridaPanthers.com later this week.

HARVEST DRIVE

Speaking of supporting a good cause, the South Florida community needs your help! In conjunction with Harvest Drive Florida, the Panthers and UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) will be hosting a food drive on Saturday at BB&T Center to benefit Broward County families in need.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., fans can drop off food donations at the Ford Garage at the front of the arena. A socially distant, drive through event, staff will pick up these items directly from cars.

"This year it is even more important than ever that we find a way to assist families in Broward County that are struggling to put food on their table. The Harvest Drive's collection with the Florida Panthers at the BB&T is an opportunity for us to come together to make our community a kinder and healthier place," Harvest Drive Founder Renee Herman said. "The food that we collect here will be distributed to families in need referred by Broward County School social workers. We are thankful to the Florida Panthers for joining with the Harvest Drive to bring much-needed food and hope to recipient families."
