Forecast-16x9-11-28-22

After wrapping up a long stretch of games at home, the Florida Panthers will kick off a big five-game road trip this week beginning with a tough test against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
Following that matchup, the Panthers will visit the Calgary Flames on Tuesday and Vancouver Canucks on Thursday before closing out the week against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.
Sitting at 10-8-3, the Panthers know that important points will be up for grabs on the trip.
"It's big," Panthers forward Eric Staal said. "It's a great chance for us to get on the road and feel good about our game and where we're at. We want to start it off with a big win [in Edmonton], and then just keep trending in the right direction."

THE GAMES

Monday: at Edmonton Oilers, 9:30 p.m. ET
Looking to get their road trip started off on the right foot, the Panthers will kick off their five-game trek with a matchup against the Edmonton Oilers (11-10-0) at Rogers Place on Monday. Entering this week on the heels of a stunning comeback, the Oilers erased a 3-0 deficit in the third period to defeat the New York Rangers 4-3 in regulation on Saturday. Overall, Edmonton has lost three of its last five games. In their first meeting of the season, Tyson Barrie scored a pair of goals and Stuart Skinner made 40 saves to lead the Oilers to a 4-2 win over the Panthers at FLA Live Arena on Nov. 12. Connor McDavid leads Edmonton and ranks first in the NHL in scoring with 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists). Second to McDavid on the team and fourth in the NHL, Leon Draisaitl has notched 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists). Jack Campbell has started the last two games for the Oilers. In 12 appearances this season, he's gone 7-5-0 with a .875 save percentage. For the Panthers, look for Matthew Tkachuk to produce against his former divisional foe. Leading Florida in scoring with 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists), Tkachuk notched 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 29 games against the Oilers during his time with the Calgary Flames.

Tuesday: at Calgary Flames, 9 p.m. ET
Hopping a flight right after their game against the Oilers, the Panthers will close out their back-to-back with a battle against the Calgary Flames (9-9-3) at Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday. In a three-game slump, Calgary closed out last week with a 3-2 loss at Carolina on Saturday. In their first meeting of the season, Adam Ruzicka racked up three points (two goals, one assist) to help lead the Flames to a 5-4 shootout win over the Panthers at FLA Live Arena on Nov. 19. One of six players on the team with at least 10 points, Elias Lindholm leads Calgary in scoring with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists). On his heels, Nazem Kadri has logged 15 points, including a team-leading eight goals. Earning the bulk of the starts in net, Jacob Markstrom has gone 8-5-2 with a .889 save percentage. For the Panthers, look for Gustav Forsling to hand out a few helpers in this contest. Tied for 13th among NHL defenseman with 13 assists, he's recorded at least one assist in six of his last seven games.

Thursday: at Vancouver Canucks, 10 p.m. ET
Wrapping up the first leg of their trip though Canada, the Panthers will visit the Vancouver Canucks (9-10-3) at Rogers Arena on Thursday. Starting to turn a corner after dropping their first seven games out of the gate, the Canucks have won five of their last six games, including a 4-3 overtime win at San Jose on Sunday. Over that six-game stretch, Vancouver has outscored the opposition 22-17. Elias Pettersson leads the Canucks in scoring with 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists). Bo Horvat is second in points (24) and first in goals (17). Also a big part of the team's attack, J.T. Miller and Andrei Kuzmenko have each scored 11 goals. In net, Thatcher Demko and Spencer Martin have each been seeing work as of late. Demko is 3-9-2 with a .885 save percentage, while Martin has gone 6-1-1 with a .907 save percentage. For the Panthers, let's go with Sam Reinhart as a threat to have a big game. Saturday: at Seattle Kraken, 10 p.m. ET
The Panthers will briefly head back into the United States for a date with the Seattle Kraken (13-5-3) at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday. For the Panthers, expect Aaron Ekblad to pepper Jones from the blue line. Entering this week on an impressive three-game goal streak, the star defenseman has fired off 10 shots on goal during that stretch.
