Forecast-16x9-12-19-22

The Florida Panthers are looking to pick up some more points before the holiday break.
Sitting at 15-13-4 after closing out last week with a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, the Panthers will kick off this week by closing out their two-game road trip with a matchup against the Atlantic Division-leading Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday.
After that, the Panthers host the Devils for a rematch at FLA Live Arena on Wednesday before visiting the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Friday in their final game before the break.
"They're important," Panthers forward Ryan Lomberg said. "It's going to be a good test to see where we're at. I think all of us are all competitors, so we're looking forward to the challenge."
To see what's going on this week and beyond for the Panthers, continue reading below.

THE GAMES

Monday: at Boston Bruins, 7 p.m. ET
Wrapping up their two-game road trip, the Panthers will battle the Boston Bruins (24-4-2) at TD Garden on Monday. Sitting atop the Atlantic Division, the Bruins, who have yet to lose at home in regulation this season, enter this week fresh off a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. David Pastrnak leads the Bruins in goals (20), assists (22) and points (42), while six other players have recorded at least 20 points. Leading the NHL with 17 wins, Linus Ullmark owns a .938 save percentage between the pipes for Boston. Splitting the first two games of their season series, the Panthers secured a 5-2 win in their previous meeting on Nov. 23 in Sunrise behind 37 saves from Spencer Knight. This time around, look for Aaron Ekblad to crack the scoresheet as he's tallied one goal and two assists in two games against Boston in 2022-23.

Wednesday: New Jersey Devils, 7 p.m. ET
Facing off twice in less than a week, the Panthers will host the New Jersey Devils (21-8-2) at FLA Live Arena on Wednesday. In their first meeting this season, Sam Reinhart scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers to a 4-2 win at New Jersey on Dec. 17. That game marked the fifth straight loss for the Devils, who are in the midst of their first slump of the season. Making a splash earlier in the season, New Jersey won 13 straight games from Oct. 25 through Nov. 21. Jack Hughes leads the Devils in goals (16) and points (36). Second on the team in scoring, Jesper Bratt has produced 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists). Handling the bulk of the work in net, Vitek Vanecek has posted a 12-3-2 record with a .912 save percentage. For the Panthers, look for Reinhart to have another big showing in this contest. Finding the back of the net in each of his last three games, the red-hot forward has recorded four goals and two assists in that span.

Friday: at New York Islanders, 7:30 p.m. ET
In their final game before enjoying a few days off for the holidays, the Panthers will visit the New York Islanders (18-13-1) at UBS Arena on Friday. Holding a three-point lead over the Panthers for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders closed out last week by snapping out of a three-game skid with a 5-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Facing off twice already this season, Florida won both games by a combined score of 6-3. Brock Nelson leads the Islanders in goals (15) and points (33), while Mathew Barzal is second in points (31) and first in assists (27). Also chipping in on offense, Anders Lee, Noah Dobson and Zach Parise have all scored 10 goals. Between the pipes, Ilya Sorokin has posted a 10-10-0 record with a .921 save percentage. For the Panthers, Eetu Luostarinen will look to keep terrorizing New York. In two games against the Islanders in 2022-23, he's logged two goals and one assist.
