The road to the playoffs runs through Canada.
Entering this week sitting three points out of a playoff spot, the Panthers will hit the road for their final extended trip of the season, which includes three games north of the border.

After opening up their trip in Ottawa on Monday, they'll visit Toronto and Montreal for back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Putting their passports to use one last time, they'll then cross back over the border to close out their trip in Columbus on Saturday.
With nine games left to close the gap, the Panthers know they need to make their move.
"Every point counts now," forward Anthony Duclair said.
To see what's going on this week and beyond for the Panthers, continue reading below.

THE GAMES

Monday: at Ottawa Senators, 7 p.m. ET
The Panthers will kick off their final multi-game road trip of the season when they visit the Senators (35-33-5) at Canadian Tire Centre on Monday. Losing seven of their last nine games, Ottawa enters this week on the heels of a 5-3 loss at New Jersey on Saturday. Elevating his game during his third season in the NHL, Tim Stützle leads the Senators in scoring with 81 points (35 goals, 46 assists), while Brady Tkachuk is second with 75 points (33 goals, 42 assists). Not far behind in third, Claude Giroux has accumulated 70 points (28 goals, 42 assists). With Anton Forsberg suffering a season-ending injury in February, rookie goaltender Mads Sogaard has been handling the bulk of the work in Ottawa's net as of late. In 14 appearances this season, he's posted a 6-5-2 record with a .890 save percentage. For the Panthers, look Matthew Tkachuk to crack the scoresheet in this tilt. Always getting up for games against his brother, Matthew has won eight of his 14 career head-to-head matchups with Brady. Carrying a hot stick into this week, Tkachuk has scored seven goals over his last seven games.

Thursday: at Toronto Maple Leafs, 7:30 p.m. ET
The Panthers will be looking for some payback when they face off against the Maple Leafs (44-20-9) at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday. Toronto enters this week with wins in four of its last six games, including cruising to a 6-2 win over the Panthers at FLA Live Arena on March 23. Led by a quartet of dangerous scorers, Mitch Marner (94), William Nylander (81) and Auston Matthews (77) and John Tavares (75) have all racked up at least 70 points for the Maple Leafs. Between the pipes, Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray have both manned the crease in recent contests. In 35 appearances, Samsonov has gone 24-9-3 with a .914 save percentage, while Murray sits at 14-8-2 with a .905 save percentage in 25 appearances. For the Panthers, keep an eye on none other than the captain in this revenge game. Flying into this week on a 10-game point streak, Aleksander Barkov has registered 11 goals and 16 assists in 30 career games against Toronto.

Thursday: at Montreal Canadiens, 7 p.m. ET
With no time to catch their breath, the Panthers will wrap up a back-to-back with a battle against the Canadiens (29-38-6) at Bell Centre on Thursday. After enduring a seven-game losing streak, Montreal has gone 3-3-0 over its past six games, including an 8-2 beatdown of the Blue Jackets in their last outing on Saturday. With a 24-point cushion over second place, Nick Suzuki leads the Canadiens in scoring with 61 points (23 goals, 38 assists). On the blue line, former Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson has also been chipping in quite a bit as of late, posing eight points (two goals, six assists) over his last six games. In net, Sam Montembeault has had the edge over Jake Allen in starts over the last two weeks. In 34 appearances this season, Montembeault has gone 15-14-3 with a .905 save percentage. In need of a big showing on the road, look for Brandon Montour to do some damage for the Panthers. Enjoying a breakout campaign, he currently leads the club's defensemen in goals (13), assists (48) and points (61).

Saturday: at Columbus Blue Jackets, 7 p.m. ET
After a three-game trek through Canada, the Panthers will head back across the border to close out their road trip with matchup against the Blue Jackets (23-42-7) on Saturday. Tied for the fewest points in the NHL (53), Columbus earned overtime wins over the Capitals (7-6) and Islanders (5-4) before suffering an 8-2 loss to the Canadiens in their last outing on Saturday. Johnny Gaudreau leads the Blue Jackets in assists (49) and points (67), while Boone Jenner has scored the most goals (25). Fourth in the NHL in scoring among rookies, Kent Johnson has racked up 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists), including scoring a lacrosse-style goal against the Islanders last week. In net, Elvis Merzlikins has seen the most action of any goaltender for Columbus, but is currently listed as day-to-day due to an injury suffered in Saturday's loss to Montreal. For the Panthers, Carter Verhaeghe is always a safe pick to light the lamp. Leading the team with a career-high 36 goals, 29 of those scores have come at even-strength, which is tied for the sixth-most in the NHL.

PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT

Aleksi Heponiemi has been Mr. Consistency in the AHL for the last few months.
Since Dec. 9, the 24-year-old forward has cracked the scoresheet in 26 of 39 games. Producing 33 points (six goals, 27 assists) during that span -- including a trio of three-point performances -- he ranks third on the Checkers in scoring with 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists) in 2022-23.
Heponiemi's biggest game during that stretch came on Jan. 7. Having a hand in all three goals for Charlotte, he posted a goal and two assists during a 3-1 win over Hershey. Breaking the ice against the Bears, he beat Zach Fucale with a nifty backhand to make it 1-0 in the first period.
Selected by the Panthers in the second round (40th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Heponiemi, who's still only 24, has already set new career-highs in goals (11) and points (41) this season. With one more assist, he will surpass the career-high 30 helpers that he registered in 2021-22.
In 10 games with Florida this season, he's recorded a goal and two assists.
