The Panthers couldn't have asked to be in a better spot at the halfway point of their season.
Sitting in first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 28-9-5, the Panthers enter this week with wins in 10 of their last 13 games. During that 13-game stretch since the holiday break, they rank second in the NHL in points (21), first in goals (65) and second on the power play (32.5%).
But even with that great start, they know there's still a lot of hockey left to be played.

"In our business you're kind of looking day to day, game to game," Panthers interim head coach Andrew Brunette said. "I'm not really evaluating where we've been. Where we are right now is the most important thing."
So where are they right now?
Well, after splitting the first four games on their current five-game trip, the Panthers will look to finish their trek above .500 when they wrap things up against the Jets in Winnipeg on Tuesday. After that they'll return home to host the Golden Knights on Thursday and Sharks on Saturday.
And with a 21-3-0 mark at home, there's always fireworks when the Cats are at FLA Live Arena.
"It's a fun place to play, and we are playing an exciting brand of hockey," Brunette said of the team's home-ice advantage earlier this season. "The players are feeding off the crowd, and the crowd is feeding off the players. We want to bring an identity that South Florida is a real hard place to come in."
From a quick homestand to Military Appreciation Night, here's what's on tap for this week…

THE GAMES

Tuesday: at Winnipeg Jets, 8 p.m. ET
Closing out their five-game road trip, the Panthers will battle the Jets (17-14-7) at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday. Last playing a home game on Dec. 19, Winnipeg had to postpone eight of its last 15 games due to COVID-19 protocols. Struggling to adapt to their adjusted schedule, the Jets enter this week looking to break out of a slump after their losing streak reached four games with a 3-2 shootout loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday. During that streak, they've been outscored 15-9. Up front, Kyle Connor leads Winnipeg in goals (22), assists (19) and points (41). Doing a lot of heavy lifting on offense, Connor has produced six points (three goals, three assists) over his last five games. Between the pipes, Connor Hellebuyck has earned the majority of starts, going 14-12-6 with a .913 save percentage. For the Panthers, look for Anthony Duclair to show off his own jets in Winnipeg. Using his otherworldly wheels to generate plenty of scoring chances this season, the ultra-speedy forward is tied for first on the team in goals (18) and fifth in points (55).

Thursday: Vegas Golden Knights, 7 p.m. ET
Home sweet home. After making their way through the Western Conference, the Panthers will return to FLA Live Arena to host the Golden Knights (24-15-2) on Thursday. In first place in the Pacific Division, Vegas enters this week on the heels of a 4-3 overtime win over Montreal, but has lost five of its last seven games overall. Owning the sixth-ranked offense in the league (3.46 goals per game on average), the Golden Knights are led up front by Chandler Stephenson (38 points) and Jonathan Marchessault (30 points). Manning the crease for Vegas in each of the last five games, Robin Lehner owns a 16-11-1 record with a .903 save percentage this season. With the Panthers looking to keep up their strong play at home, look for Jonathan Huberdeau, who has seven points in six career games against Vegas, to come up big in this contest. Of his team-leading 58 points, 39 (eight goals, 31 assists) of them have been accumulated in Sunrise.

Saturday: San Jose Sharks, 6 p.m. ET
Wrapping up their two-game homestand, the Panthers will welcome the Sharks (21-19-2) to FLA Live Arena on Saturday. Dropping four of its last five games, San Jose enters this week looking to rebound from a 7-1 loss against the Lightning on Saturday. Fueled by two players in particular up front, Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl are tied for first on the Sharks with 21 goals each. Meier, who scored five goals against the Kings on Jan. 17, has produced eight goals over his last eight games, while Hertl has potted five goals in that same span. Splitting time in San Jose's net, James Reimer has gone 21-12-8 with a .914 save percentage, while Adin Hill is 9-11-1 with a .901 save percentage. Carrying a hot stick, Aleksander Barkov will likely make life tough on either one of those goaltenders in this matchup. Tied for first on the Panthers in goals with 18, the captain has recorded 13 points (six goals, seven assists) over his last nine games.
