SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has acquired forward Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft and Florida’s third-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. As per the terms of the transaction, the Senators will retain 50% of Tarasenko’s contract.

“Vladimir is a highly skilled and experienced scoring winger who provides our club with another dynamic offensive option as we embark on the remainder of our season,” said Zito. “We are excited for him to join our team, and to compete for the Stanley Cup once again.”

Tarasenko, 32, has appeared in 57 games with the Senators this season, registering 41 points (17-24-41) including a team-leading four game-winning goals. His plus-13 rating ranks second on the club.

The 6-foot-1, 219-pound native of Yaroslavl, Russia has amassed 615 points (287-328-615) over his 732-game NHL career between the St. Louis Blues (2012-13 to 2022-23), New York Rangers (2022-23) and Ottawa Senators (2023-24). Since joining the NHL in 2012-13, he sits third among Russian-born skaters in goals behind only Alex Ovechkin (500) and Nikita Kucherov (314).

Tarasenko was named to the NHL Second All-Star Team following the conclusion of the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns after leading St. Louis in goals and points in each season. He skated in the NHL All-Star Game in three consecutive seasons from 2015-2017, as well as in 2023 at the All-Star Game in South Florida.

Tarasenko helped the St. Louis Blues capture the Stanley Cup in 2018-19, producing 17 points (11-6-17) over 26 playoff games that season. He has appeared in 97 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, logging 64 points (44-20-64). His 44 playoff goals since 2012-13 rank second among Russian-born NHLers, behind only Kucherov (53).

On the international stage, Tarasenko has represented his home country at multiple tournaments, capturing gold at the 2011 IIHF U20 World Junior Championship where he served as team captain and tied for the most points on Team Russia (4-7-11). He also captured silver at the 2015 IIHF World Championship and 2009 U18 WJC, and represented Russia at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Prior to his North American career, Tarasenko skated in six Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) seasons with Novosibirsk Sibir (2008-09 to 2009-10, 2010-11 to 2011-12) and SKA St. Petersburg (2011-12 to 2012-13), recording 132 points (66-66-132) over 207 games.

Tarasenko was originally selected in the first round (16th overall) by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Draft.
