SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Josh Mahura on a one-year contract extension through the 2023-24 season.
"Josh joined our club just prior the start of the season and we felt his positive impact on our defensive group immediately," said Zito. "He brings consistency and energy to our blueline."

Mahura, 24, has recorded career highs in goals (4), assists (7) and points (11) over 54 games with Florida this season, ranking second among Panthers defensemen with a plus-13 rating.
The 6-foot, 185-pound native of St. Albert, Alberta has skated in 133 NHL games with Florida (2022-23) and the Anaheim Ducks (2018-19 to 2021-22), producing 31 points (10-21-31). He also amassed 60 points (11-49-60) over 112 American Hockey League (AHL) games with Anaheim's affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
Prior to his professional career, Mahura skated in four seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) between the Red Deer Rebels (2014-15 to 2016-17) and Regina Pats (2016-17 to 2017-18), amassing 131 points (41-90-131) over 186 games. He led Regina defensemen in goals, assists and points in his final campaign, registering 69 points (22-47-69) over 60 games. Mahura was also named to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team in 2017-18.
On the international stage, Mahura helped Canada secure a gold medal at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, scoring one goal across four tournament contests.
Originally selected by Anaheim in the third round (85th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Mahura was claimed off waivers by Florida on Oct. 10, 2022.
