SUNRISE, Fla.- Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has claimed goaltender Jonas Johanssonoff waivers from the Colorado Avalanche.

Johansson, 26, has appeared in nine games with Colorado in 2021-22, owning a 3-2-1 record. Over 30 career appearances with the Avalanche (2020-21 to 2021-22) and Buffalo Sabres (2019-20 to 2020-21), Johansson has compiled a 9-11-4 record, .893 save percentage, 3.09 goals against average and one shutout.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound native of Gävle, Sweden has appeared in 42 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with the Colorado Eagles (2020-21) and Rochester Americans (2016-17 to 2019-20), posting a 25-12-4-2 record, .905 save percentage and 2.70 goals against average. He also appeared in 54 ECHL games with the Cincinnati Cyclones from 2017-18 to 2018-19.
Prior to his North American career, Johansson progressed through the Swedish hockey system for his hometown club Brynäs IF, appearing in eight SHL games from 2013-14 to 2016-17. On the international stage, Johansson represented Sweden at the 2014 World Junior Championship, earning a Silver Medal.
Johansson was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (61st overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
