SUNRISE, Fla. - The Florida Panthers announced today that the club will host 'Legacy Saturdays' at BB&T Center throughout the 2018-19 season as a signature part of the club's 25th anniversary celebrations.

The 'Legacy Saturdays' series will be headlined by the Panthers honoring the life and extraordinary contributions of original Florida Panthers president William A. Torrey when the Panthers play the New York Islanders on Nov. 10 at 7 P.M. at BB&T Center. Mr. Torrey worked in a senior capacity for the Panthers organization for 25 years from 1993 until May 2018. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 1995, Mr. Torrey won four Stanley Cup championships as the architect of the Islanders dynasty from 1980-1984.
"The Florida Panthers 25th anniversary celebration is an opportunity to reflect on 25 years of history and look ahead to our next 25 years in South Florida," said Panthers President and CEO Matthew Caldwell. "We're looking forward to celebrating Panthers history and our distinguished alumni with the Legacy Saturdays series."
On 'Legacy Saturdays' at BB&T Center, the Panthers will honor, celebrate and welcome home some of the colorful characters and fan favorites who have shaped the first 25 years of Panthers history.
'Legacy Saturdays' will kick off with a pre-game ceremony celebrating Roberto Luongo's 1,000th NHL game played on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 P.M. against the Vancouver Canucks. Luongo, 39, became only the third goaltender in NHL history to appear in 1,000 NHL games on April 5, 2018 when the Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins 3-2 at BB&T Center. An all-time Panthers franchise leader, Luongo has appeared in 529 NHL games in a Panthers uniform.
In addition to honoring Mr. Torrey and celebrating Luongo's 1,000th NHL game, Saturday home games will welcome home notable Panthers alumni and fan favorites, including Radek Dvorak, Olli Jokinen, Ed Jovanovski, Billy Lindsay, Bryan McCabe, Ray Sheppard, Tomas Vokoun and Stephen Weiss.
"We're proud to host representatives from our growing and engaged base of alumni as we celebrate an important anniversary season for the Panthers with the Legacy Saturdays series," said Panthers VP of Alumni and Broadcasting Randy Moller. "These players and former players have made Florida their home and have shaped this franchise, and we're honored that they've elected to represent Panthers history and our brand this upcoming season."
For each Saturday home game throughout the 25th Anniversary season, the Florida Panthers Foundation will guarantee that the pot total of the 50/50 Raffle will total at least $25,000. For more information on the 50/50 Raffle and the Florida Panthers Foundation, please visit
