SUNRISE, Fla. - The Florida Panthers announced today that the club will hold 'Pink in the Rink' night on Friday, Oct. 21 in conjunction with the Promise Fund of Florida and Baptist Health Cancer Care when the Panthers host the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:30 p.m. at FLA Live Arena. The evening will have three key focuses: raising awareness for early breast cancer detection strategies; honoring those who are currently battling the disease, as well as those who have overcome it; and highlighting the dedicated members of our medical community who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others.
"Everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way, whether they have been personally impacted or know a family member or close friend who has had to cope with it," said General Manager Bill Zito. "On this night, we invite our community to join us in supporting two critical organizations on the front lines of early detection and care. We will champion the triumphs of breast cancer survivors as well as honor the army of individuals who work to save lives. Our goal is to raise awareness and support in fight of this disease."

The Panthers will wear exclusive warm-up jerseys designed by local contemporary artist

U.S. Air Force veteran Ruth King will serve as the Panthers 'Heroes Among Us' honoree for the evening. King is a breast cancer survivor who served four years of active duty in the Air Force, including a deployment to Kuwait in 2001.
Since 2018, the Promise Fund of Florida has made incredible progress through its innovative patient navigation model in improving high-quality access to care by helping uninsured and underinsured women overcome social determinants of health to obtain critical, early detection screening and life-saving treatment for breast and cervical cancers. The goal is to eliminate unnecessary late-stage deaths from breast and cervical cancers.
"We are grateful to the Florida Panthers for supporting the Promise Fund of Florida and recognizing the need for women in our community to put themselves and their health first," said Promise Fund Co-Founder Nancy Brinker, who has been a tireless champion of the cause since losing her sister, Susan G. Komen, in 1980. "Our partnership with the Florida Panthers will positively impact the health of women in our community, and we are thrilled to participate."
