SUNRISE, Fla. -Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has re-signed forward Mason Marchment to a one-year contract extension beginning in the 2021-22 season.
"Mason has taken full advantage of his opportunity this season and we are pleased to have signed him to a contract extension," said Zito. "In his first full NHL season, he has proven himself to be a versatile forward who provides our team with a combination of size, skill, and character. We are excited for Mason to take the next step in his career with our organization."
Marchment, 25, has appeared in 22 games with Florida this season, recording seven points (2-5-7). Over his 21 games with the Panthers, Marchment has logged a +6 rating, 44 hits, 10 takeaways and 36 shots on goal while averaging 14:04 TOI per game.
Undrafted, the 6-foot-4, 209-pound native of Uxbridge, Ontario has played in 24 career NHL games for Florida (2020-21) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (2019-20), producing eight points (2-6-8).
Marchment has also played in 130 career American Hockey League (AHL) games, amassing 72 points (38-34-72) and won the 2018 Calder Cup Championship with the Toronto Marlies.
The Panthers originally acquired Marchment through a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 19, 2020.
